Research Data Analyst Position for Cholera Dynamics
Organization: Infectious Disease Dynamics Group at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health
Position: Research Data Analyst
Application Deadline: May 15, 2023
Our group in the Department of Epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health is looking for a Research Data Analyst to work on projects related to cholera dynamics aimed at understanding the global burden and geographic distribution of the disease. This project seeks to estimate the incidence and endemicity of cholera across the world and explore how various covariates shape cholera risk across time and space. Over the past 7 years, our team has built a massive database of global cholera incidence and mortality data, with a preliminary focus on Africa and the Eastern Mediterranean region of the WHO. We are now expanding our work to the global scale. This work is highly connected to ongoing cholera control work throughout the world through the WHO-led Global Task Force for Cholera Control (GTFCC), and the successful applicant may have the chance to share results with policy and operational partners.
This Research Data Analyst will contribute to the ongoing development, maintenance, and use of a cholera mapping pipeline that produces high resolution maps of cholera burden.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop robust model code as part of an existing R cholera mapping pipeline in order to generate reports with standardized model diagnostics and maps.
- Run models, analyze model results, and prepare reports on the analysis.
- Conduct analyses in support of WHO GTFCC, CDC, Gavi, Ministries of Health, and other partners engaged in global cholera policy.
- Manage or contribute to entry of data in the global cholera database.
- The Research Data Analyst may also engage in additional research related to cholera with a large and collaborative 'cholera dynamics team in the Infectious Disease Dynamics group at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. This work will be in direct collaboration with Drs. Andrew Azman and Elizabeth Lee.
