Phylogenetic Study Design

Study Designs for Phylogenetic Studies

This work aims to develop a new methodology for relating sample size to phylogenetic inference. This will allow researchers to better design studies that maximize their change of success and make it easier for grant reviewers to evaluate the conclusions of phylogenetic analyses, which are increasingly used to answer public health questions during pathogen outbreaks.
Specific goals of this project include developing a framework to determine what portion of inferred transmission links from a phylogenetic analysis are correct and extending this framework beyond questions of direct linkage.
