Naomi Rankin

Naomi is a PhD student in the Department of Civil and Systems Engineering (CaSE), the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University, and the infectious disease dynamics (IDD) group at the JHU Bloomberg School of Public Health, as well as a member of the inaugural cohort of Vivien Thomas Scholars. She is passionate about infectious diseases and dismantling racial health disparities using mathematical and computational tools. Her interests include spatial analysis, using nontraditional datasets to understand disease dynamics, and network science. Naomi’s previous research has included the study of spatial SIR models, latent tuberculosis modeling, and agent-based networks to examine the spread of anti-vaccine beliefs.
