Kristen is a PhD student of the Department of Civil and Systems Engineering (CaSE), the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE), and the Infectious Disease Dynamics (IDD) group at Johns Hopkins University. Her interests include pandemic response systems, science communication and translation, and equity. Her latest project is focused on understanding what data and modeling work was done for COVID-19 response and to what extent this work was useful for decision-makers. In previous work, she surveyed the state of the COVID-19 prospective modeling literature, focusing on aspects of models that are crucial for successful translation of models to inform public health practice.
