Impact of Cholera Vaccine in Uvira, DRC
In this project, we aim to study the impact of mass cholera vaccination in Uvira, South Kivu, DR Congo. This will be done through a multifaceted approach where we will estimate changes in lab-confirmed cholera incidence, mortality, serologically-derived infection rates, changes in the molecular characteristics of Vibrio cholerae O1 in humans and the environment around Uvira. We anticipate the results from this study will have direct implications for future vaccine allocation decisions and cost-effectiveness analyses for both national and global health decision makers.
