Hongru is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Civil and Systems Engineering and the Infectious Disease Dynamic Group. He received his MS in Industrial Engineering from the University of Wisconsin Madison in 2019 and BS in Material Chemistry from the University of Edinburgh in 2017. His research interests are network modeling, machine learning, and optimizations. His current works have focus on outbreak modeling for novel coronavirus, understanding Zika transmission patterns in Puerto Rico, and Flu transmission patterns in the entire United States.
