HCV/HIV Modeling in People Who Inject Drugs (PWID)
In this project, we use mathematicals models of people who inject drugs (PWID) to understand transmission patterns of HIV and HCV within the Baltimore Metropolitan Area.
Working within the AIDS Linked to the IntraVenous Experience (ALIVE) study at JHU, we develop models that understand the composition of PWID networks, risk behaviors associated with inject drug use, and the effectiveness of various interventions (such as treatment-as-prevention) on HCV elimination programs. We also explore how COVID-19 related behavioral and network changes may impact the transmission of HIV and HCV among PWID in Baltimore.
